FS2004/FSX Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk

The Curtiss Seahawk (SC-1) was an American single-seater ship borne scout aircraft of the Second World War first flown in 1944.It entered service in late 1944 and served to the end of WW2 and for several months afterward. The Curtiss Seahawk was a low-wing cantilever monoplane powered by a Wright R-1820-62 9-cylinder radial air-cooled engine and armed with two 0.50 inch calibre machine-guns mounted in the wings. Bombs or depth charges could be carried in a bomb-bay in the central float.The Seahawk was the last plane designed to be catapulted from a battleship or heavy cruiser. It was primarily used for scout duties and in some instances fire control for the large gun batteries. After the end of WW2 it's mission was taken over by helicopters and other carrier born aircraft.

Effects
--------
-On startup there is automatic engine smoke.
-Then follow the exhaust flames with smoke.
-Wing vortex effect appears by default at 2.5g or quick roll rate.
-Nose guns with flash, smoke and falling cartridges can be triggered with the standard Strobe key (O).
It is much nicer however if you put the FS2004/FSX standard Strobe key (O) to the trigger from your joystick. You can change this in the Key menu.
It is a good idea if you replace the standard (L) key for lights by the L+CTRL, (normaly activating the landing lights only). This avoids you having to have all lights on when pulling the trigger.
-Cockpitdoor opens/closes with the normal key.
-Cowling flaps open/close with normal key.

Installation:
==============
-Unzip " Curtiss Seahawk" into a temporary file and move the "Curtiss Seahawk" folder into the main Aircraft directory.

-Read instructions carefully when installing the gauges , say YES...when asked if the gauges sources should be trusted. If you say no....most of the gauges are not going to work !
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-Leave the Shwk.cab in your panel folder.
-Copy the effects into the Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator...\effects folder.
-Add the 20can.wav in your Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator...\sound folder.
-Sound aliased to Douglas_DC_3.
ATTENTION :
-For FS2004, change the FS9_Wing_Guns.fx into FX_Wing_Guns.fx
-For FSX change the FSX_Wing_Guns.fx into FX_Wing_Guns.fx
If having trouble with the cockpit transparencies or turningprop in FSX acceleration, copy the glass.bmp and Propdisk.bmp from the Acceleration.texture into the plane's texture folder.
-Air and aircraft.cfg are different for FS9 and FSX. For FS9, change the fs9Seahwk.air and fs9Aircraft.cfg into Seahwk.air and Aircraft.cfg and let them overwrite the other ones.

FLYING
======
Remember this is a floatplane of WW2 vintage. Acceleration on the water is slow. Hold neutral or slight down elevator, one third of flaps, keep the wings straight with aileron and rudder. Let the plane accelerate to about 100 knots and take off, retract the flaps and go up to flying speed.
This is a nice flyer. It is very sensitive however to spray suction by the prop while starting and taxiing and has a lot of torque on takeoff. Go slowly with power at first. Be careful with turning ...the plane could easily dip a wing if exagerating. Otherwise take off,landing and flying are acceptable for a vintage floatplane.
IMPORTANT... When you have another plane on the water while loading the Seahawk, be sure to cut the engine(s) first or you're going to make the roll of your life (fortunately you're not really in the plane...) .
